QUEBEC - DAY 91 - SEP 1

It was another sparkler of a day as I continue westward and now slightly south along the north shore of the Gaspe Peninsula. That big beautiful body of water over my right shoulder is the St. Lawrence River. It's wide enough here that you can barely see the far shore. I did see a speck of a freighter out there.

Notice the wind farm. The planners of where to install these are no dummies as there seems to be a constant wind tunnel blowing along the river, unfortunately opposite to the direction that I am going. The ride today was not terribly hilly as I continued hovering near the coast with a few slightly inland climbs. I went through several small villages, getting pictures of their welcome signs and other scenery of interest.

If anyone knows what that space-age looking thingy is that stands among the normal looking wind generators, I'd be interested to hear. Also, that fur covered critter is not a big rat, but probably a badger, gopher, or beaver I'm guessing.

I had no reservations, as is my norm, and as I came into the larger town of Matane, right off of the main road, there was "Auberge La Seigneurie". I know enough French now to figure that this was a place that I might be able to stay, in fact, a B&B. The two pictures after the one of the sign are the property. I am here, I like it, and am staying for three nights. This B&B is owned and run by a nice lady with a few kids. Her hubby is working the gold mines in Suriname, formerly known as Dutch Guiana, and she has the joint up for sale. I mention this only because I'm not familiar with real estate up here, and her asking price is just over $500,000 USD. The place was built in 1930, has from 9 to 12 rooms, and is immaculate inside. I though this was a killer deal and if anyone is thinking of retiring in a very nice town, I wanted to pass this info along. Granted, winters might be a little grim.
