EUROPE - 2019 - DAY 80

DAY 80 - AUG 29 - HELSINKI to VANTAA

I gave Helsinki a very short look on the day I came in and a little more on the next day when I left. It really is a very beautiful and vibrant city and deserved more of my attention. I may be getting burnt out on being a tourist. The highlight of my short visit was the humongous Helsinki Cathedral which I didn't have the energy to walk up a lot of steps and go in to see.

I was contemplating a visit to Saint Petersburg which involved a very long boat trip which I really didn't fancy. Then I was thinking about a big loop around southern Finland, but after looking at potential lodging, I wasn't excited.

Yup, definitely burnt out, so I booked an earlier flight home and a 5 night stay at a nice apartment in Vantaa, a short distance from the airport.

EUROPE - 2019 - DAY 79

DAY 79 - AUG 28 - TALLINN to HELSINKI

After my long stay in Tallinn I hopped on a very large roll-on, roll-off ferry to Helsinki. Tallinn isn't a terribly large town and I was staying pretty close to the harbor.

It was a great weather day and a pleasant 50 mile crossing of the Gulf of Finland. The pictures are all of the Tallinn harbor area and from the ferry that I was on. You can see the large cruise ships and some nice city views as I departed.

I did get some photos in Helsinki, but I'm grouping those with the ones I took the following morning.
