DAY 70 - AUG 19 - ROKISKIS to SERENE
A beauty of a day and as I left Rokiskis I got a few parting photos. The large house was a palace of some sort, now a museum. Later down the road I saw a very picturesque church. This area seemed to be more forested and there were a few logging trucks about.
Today I entered Latvia, my eleventh country on this trip (but who's counting). The garden flowers were in front of my lodge which wasn't a B&B, just a B, but it did have a small kitchen.

EUROPE - 2019 - DAY 69
DAY 69 - AUG 18 - MOLETAI to ROKISKIS
Another day, another bike ride. There are not as many farm roads in Lithuania as there were in Poland. I have been on major roads, not freeways, however many do not have great shoulders. That being said, the population of the Baltic States is such that the highways can be very quiet unless near one of the larger cities.
Similar scenery as the day before until I arrived at the town of Rokiskis. Not a beautiful town, but with all necessary amenities. In writing this and checking my source of knowledge, Wikipedia, I find that there is a terrible history here of Jews being mistreated and killed by both the Soviet Union and the Nazis respectively.

EUROPE - 2019 - DAY 68
DAY 68 - AUG 17 - VILNIUS to MOLETAI
The Neris River runs through Vilnius and I followed it for the first five miles as I headed north. This area has some nice lakes and farms. In fact, tiny Moletai, my destination, sits next to a beautiful lake and has a very laid back atmosphere.

EUROPE - 2019 - DAY 67
DAY 67 - AUG 16 - VILNIUS
My second day in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, was spent strolling around soaking up the ambience and taking pictures of course. It is a very pleasant city, just teeming with tourists, as all cities in Europe do in the summer.
I wish I was more a student of history, but thankfully there is wikipedia;
