Today was a layover day in Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island. A great city, easy to get around, but I wanted to see as much as possible, so I bicycled. I concentrated on the downtown area near the harbor, although the suburbs are quite extensive as I would discover the next day when leaving. Besides the government buildings and beautifully kept old historic homes, the thing that was very noticeable was the ubiquitous churches. Not quite on every corner, but usually large and with fantastic design.
The many restaurants with outdoor seating and pedestrian friendly walking areas made for a very nice atmosphere. Somehow Starbucks snuck in a store too.
