NEW BRUNSWICK - DAY 79 - AUG 20

Today was maybe the flattest day of my journey from Tracadie to Bathurst and I'm not complaining. As I continue along the Acadian coast, some of the roads are wonderfully wide, as you can see in one of the pictures. The shoulder is almost as wide as the car lane. Further along the wide shoulder is only on one side of the road, which encourages bicyclists to ride in it, even if against traffic.

Towns of any size were sparse, with the exception of Caraquet on Chaleur Bay, where the residents think of it as Acadia's capital. There is even a welcome short stretch of rail trail to get through the little town.

Further on the coastal cliffs are more evident and finally some wildlife, albeit offshore. Lots of cormorants on this one stack off the coast. When arriving in Bathurst I got a picture of The Old Bathurst Post Office described here; Old Post Office Bathurst, New Brunswick History

I found nice digs at the Comfort Inn.
