QUEBEC - DAY 96 - SEP 6

Today started with an almost 2 hour ferry ride from Trois-Pistole to Les Escoumins on the north side of the Saint Lawrence River. I've been on bigger and fancier ferries, but this one was full and got us there. I then headed southwest on the coastal road. A lot more hills and more wooded than the other side. I got to the junction heading up the Saguenay River, but was considering going down to Tadoussac at the mouth of the river because I heard it was nice. I passed with regrets, because as it turns out, you don't see any fjords on this Route of the Fjords, unless you get off of the main road and do an out-n-back. I think I must be getting tired of being a tourist. In any case, I've seen more than a few fjords in a past trip.

So, continuing up the road toward Saguenay, there are no views of the Saguenay River, but many lakes and heavily forested hillsides and other rivers in abundance. I made it to Sacre-Coeur, one of the only small towns along this stretch of highway. After bugging a lot of the populace I found a neat little motel that had a package deal that included a good dinner and breakfast. All is well.
