DAY 67 - AUG 16 - VILNIUS
My second day in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, was spent strolling around soaking up the ambience and taking pictures of course. It is a very pleasant city, just teeming with tourists, as all cities in Europe do in the summer.
I wish I was more a student of history, but thankfully there is wikipedia;

EUROPE - 2019 - DAY 66
DAY 66 - AUG 15 - ALYTUS to VILNIUS
It was a long and rewarding day in Lithuania, made more so because it was mostly sunny. There was a nice assortment of beautiful farms, forests, streams, lakes, and churches. And who knew Lithuania had some hills? They were short but added to the fun.
Early into the ride, I was passing through the tiny village of Butrimonys. I saw this fish tank like thing in the town park. It was quite amazing. I took a photo and be sure and watch the video. More info here;

About 15 miles before reaching Vilnius, I passed by a great view of the Trakai Island Castle. The whole area was crawling with tourists or maybe locals. I regret not staying and going inside, but I was smelling the barn. More info here;

EUROPE - 2019 - DAY 65
DAY 65 - AUG 14 - SENJY to ALYTUS
Today I entered Lithuania from Poland. There was a sign indicating as much. I'm getting far behind in writing this blog and am having trouble remembering what I did each day. After looking at the photos I am very sure that what I did was bike all day.
There was a very nice horse family and the bucolic nature of the countryside continues.

EUROPE - 2019 - DAY 63
DAY 63 - AUG 12 - LOMZA to BARSZCZE
Still in Poland and today I saw more farms, forests, cows, water, cows in water, calves, and a church. A few cows had pipe-like contraptions around their necks. Probably used when they are in pens. Yikes!

EUROPE - 2019 - DAY 61
DAY 61 - AUG 10 - MOKOTOW to WYSZKOW
I approached Warsaw from the south. Like I said before the suburbs seem to go on forever, but Warsaw itself; Oh my! Unfortunately it was a cloudy day as I zeroed in on the old part of town. I knew a little about the WWII destruction and didn't know what to expect. The city is fabulous! I zipped around taking pictures among the hordes of tourists. Read the placard for a tidbit of history.
The city has the most bicycle friendly infrastructure I have seen, maybe on a par with Copenhagen. I continued north through the countryside.
